Good view? This what geologists do? We hike up a mountain and looking for a nice picnic spot, most of the times with beer. Posted by Hello

this picture was two yr ago, a field trip to CO. This guy is Paul, professor from my department. We had dinner together and took this picture outside the bar. What you can tell from this picture? Hmm... Olivia is the shortest, and Paul is the tallest in the geology department. Posted by Hello

Acknowledgement

This is my acknowledgement in my thesis. I know no one is gonna go thru the 80 pages thesis, so i just take out this part and post on blog. I wanted to thanks mol for accompaning me, but my bro didn't let me. So.... Mol, thanks, I love you so much.

My deepest gratitude goes to Professor Jiasong Fang. It is a real privilege to be a student of such an exemplary teacher. First, thank you for introducing me to the fascinating field of geomicrobiology. Your immense guidance and generous help throughout the whole research process have taught me the virtues of logical thinking and academic rigor.

I am grateful to my committee members, Professors Dennis Bazylinsky and Germán Mora, whose advice and support are also indispensable.

Special acknowledgment to Dr. Chiaki Kato from the Japan Marine Science and Technology Center for providing me with the valuable sediment and clam samples from the Japan Trench.

I am also appreciative of Kelly Crowley who has read my final draft and provided additional editing. Carrie Carlson, Corey Strauss, Robert White, and Seth Chamberlain have given me the most professional assistance in the laboratory.

I would also like to thank my parents, who had worked so hard so that I could have a good education. I cannot complete this project without their love. I would like to share this moment of happiness with my brother, Alan, and my boyfriend, Nelson. They have offered me much needed encouragement and suggestions that translate into numerous ameliorations in my thesis.

Lastly, I would like to express my appreciation to all my friends in Ames for their kindness.

Beautiful Sunday

Finally i can reveal it here now. As nelson's birthday is coming soon, me and his friends have been planned a little surprise for nel. After Sunday service, his frens brought him to a very nice italian restaurant for lunch. and have the cake that i ordered earlier.
Nel was surprised and happy~ Great~ Thanks everyone who been helped and participated, Shirley, Dong Wen, Jon M, Jon Y, Andrew, and Pastor couples (sorri, i dun remember their name).

Happy to working with them. A week ago, I checked nel's email account and stole his frens contact :) (yeah i'm a crazy gf who checking her bf a lot). The planning process is not easy. First, we planned doing it on Saturday, but i found out nel had to work in Sat. Second, andrew started a very early april fool joke by sending the email to a fake nelsonyong email account. Shirley almost got a heart attack huh. Poor thing.

Hahah nelson, now i got my connection in singapore hmm.. you cannot escape from me now. I have my eyes now. hahahhahaha Anyway, glad that you enjoy the little surprise. I love you Hubby. and i love your friends too.

That was singapore Sunday, so now is my Sunday in Ames. I went to work, and then did a simple grocery, cuz i invited Mei to come over for dinner. We went to rec exercise a bit and bought Culver ice cream b4 comming back.
My menu tonight:
Chicken Curry, Choi sum and Fried Tofu, followed by Culver's Cherry Pecan Ice Cream.
Mei likes mol mol alot. and i found out mei is a super dishwasher. she did all dishes with no time. Impressed.

Who has this experience b4?

Today I drove to MU for bible study, I parallel parked my car beside the lake. (just one attemp, it was perfect)

oki. parallel park is not the point, even though is big for me. When i came back to pick up my car. A duck stood next of my car. attacking my car actually. I can't even get in the driver side. I walked closer.. he opened his mouth and 'herrrrrrrrr'..... har! so fierce ar.

End up took me about 10 mins. erghhh
